WILLIAM DOYLE NOTHING AT ALL

Rising from the ashes of a "catastrophic hard-drive failure", accomplished musician and songwriter William Doyle was forced to take his compositions at face value for his forthcoming new album. Feeling a sense of liberation over gut-wrenching despair, lead track 'Nothing At All' is the first taste of the joyously restrained new record. Built over a fizzing Casio beat, lengthy stings wash over bouncy analogue bass notes as Doyle's contemplative lyrics speak of a minor existential crisis. Doyle sums the track up well: “It sort of gives me a last-dance-at-a-school-disco feeling. There’s a melodrama to it. It explores the chasm that exists between forming a thought and being able to express it clearly.” Great Spans of Muddy Time will be released on 19th March via Tough Love Records. -Holly Mullineaux
